About Grace
Since starting piano at 4 years old, piano has been a part of Grace's life for as long as she can remember. Though it played a large role in her life growing up, it wasn't until after her first year of an undergraduate degree in science that she realized that her future was in piano. She then switched to a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance at Truman State graduating summa cum laude.
Grace Chang recently graduated from UMKC with a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy studying under Dr. Chris Madden, as well as a Master of Arts in Collaborative Piano under Dr. Karen Savage. While there she served as a teaching assistant teaching beginner to collegiate level lessons as well as a wide range of class piano subjects including piano for music therapy.
Grace has been teaching since she was 16 years old, and decided to pursue a career in pedagogy during her undergraduate degree. She has continued her private studio during both degrees, teaching kids as young as 3 years old up to retirees! While completing her masters she helped found the UMKC MTNA chapter (Music Teachers National Association) and served on the executive board for three years as both vice president as well as president. During her tenure as president she led her chapter in presenting at both the Collegiate Symposium as well as the National Conference.
